Describe the bug
When an existing host in the ~/.ssh/config file is edited and saved through the program, unnecessary blank lines are inserted between each line of that host's configuration block. This unnecessarily increases the file size and reduces readability.

Expected Behavior
The configuration block for the host should be saved without any extra line breaks, preserving its original compact format.

Example of correct formatting:

Host example-host
    HostName example-ip
    Port 22
    User root

Actual Behavior
A blank line is inserted between every line of the edited host block, resulting in a spaced-out, difficult-to-read configuration.

Example of the incorrect formatting after saving:

Host example-host

    HostName example-ip

    Port 22

    User root

I’ve tested on Windows with LazySSH v0.2.1 using the following initial ~/.ssh/config content:

Host example-host
    HostName example-ip
    Port 22
    User root

I edited this entry multiple times with different combinations, but the formatting always stayed correct. I wasn’t able to reproduce the extra blank lines issue you described. Could you please share:

• Your initial ~/.ssh/config content (before any edits).

• The exact steps you take in LazySSH to trigger the blank lines

That would help narrow it down.

On the implementation side: LazySSH is designed to preserve the original formatting, including comments and intentional blank lines, while only updating the necessary values. It shouldn’t insert extra spacing on its own.

That said, there is a known edge case I’ll address in the next PR (merged #66 ):

If you have two host entries separated by a blank line, and then edit the first entry (for example, by adding a new field), the formatting currently shifts.

Example – Initial config:

Host example-host
    HostName example-ip
    User root

Host example-host-2
    HostName example-ip-2
    Port 22
    User root

After editing first entry (adding a Port):

Host example-host
    HostName example-ip
    User root

    Port 302
Host example-host-2
    HostName example-ip-2
    Port 22
    User root

What it should look like instead:

Host example-host
    HostName example-ip
    User root
    Port 302

Host example-host-2
    HostName example-ip-2
    Port 22
    User root

I’ll get that fixed in the upcoming release.
